If you look over in the “shout it” section on the left you will see Nitros Mike asking the question “Why don’t we ever see any of you guys at the Bay Area C n S Rides”
Some of us might be at some of the runs but we don’t ride together out of our area more than once a year or so… (Sierra Foothills between Sacramento and Tahoe - Nevada City down to about Sonora.) …and the other reason I can come up with is our UN-Official name for ourselves, The Fugarewe’s taken from the tribe of the same name.
You know: Chief wakes up (or in our case the first one up) goes outside the TeePee (in our case a tent, sleeping bag, or old newspaper) looks around the horizon with his hand covering his eyes and says, “Where the Fug Are WE!!!!”
Usually, since we don’t drink or use anymore, someone will have a vague idea where we are, but that is not always the case. Sometimes two or three of us will know where we are but never do all three of us think it’s the same place. Sooooo we get ready and head out in the direction the first bike leaving takes and we all stop at the first place we can find with hot coffee and we ask someone in the real world … “Excuse me… but can you tell us wherethefugweare?
I can tell you, with some authority, that I now live in Grass Valley. For the past year or so it has been REALLY hard to get everyone on the same page about where to ride to and when. I have begun to meet and ride with a group over here who call themselves the “Lone Wolves” for pretty much the same reason we never called ourselves anything. Clean and Sober riders out to enjoy the ride, eat some good food, and hopefully catch a meeting someplace off the familiar path we usually travel.
Today is Friday Feb 20th 2009 and I’ve gotten some emails about the group over here in Grass Valley/Nevada City meeting at the Hughes Street meeting hall at 10 AM tomorrow morning (Saturday Feb 21st) and riding down to Roseville for a meeting, then lunch, then a ride home on a different path. Anyone interested can just show up and ride along. Their motto, as ours has been, is; “the more the merrier”.
Soooo who from the Placerville area is interested in riding over tomorrow? Ron
