...by Pat Barron
On July 26, 2006 I lost my sister Kacie tragically as a result of domestic violence. Our lives will never be the same.
Somehow through my grief I had this Idea to create a ride in my sisters
name. All I did was mention it at the famous clean and sober "Fugarewe"
coffee meeting and a handful of friends stood up, prodded me along and got
things rolling.
Going on bike runs was one of Kacie's favorite pastimes. In her memory,
Kacie's Ride for Hope was established last fall with the ride traveling
through Hope Valley, in her memory.
Kacie was a strong supporter of the El Dorado County Women's Center, as the
center was working with her when she was tragically taken.
We wish to continue to honor Kacie's memory by helping to spread awareness
and support to help end domestic violence.
All of the proceeds generated from ticket sales for the ride, along with the
raffle and monetary donations, will be donated for the benefit and support of
the El Dorado County Women's Center Emergency Services. Last year, Kacie's
First Annual Ride for Hope was a huge success and it is our goal to continue
this ride for many years to come.
My hope is to cause the ripple affect, county to county, state to state
etc...
I Hope to see you all.
Thank You Pat Barron
